His is the earliest name established in the Scherrer line.  He is said too have been a shoemaker by trade.  The dates of his birth, marriage, and death are not known, or only presumed.  In a land description of 1684, the name Johannes (Hanss) Scherrer appears.  He had a house and land in Niederlinxweiler.  At that time his household included 7 adults and 2 children.  One of the children is listed as Hanss Georg Scherrer.
